BLE - Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung - Federal Office for Agriculture and Food

The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung, BLE) is a German institution under public law, directly subordinated to the Federal Government and empowered to conduct business on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

Activities

The BLE fulfils a variety of tasks: Its mandate includes carrying out measures, which strengthen agriculture, food production, fishery and forestry as well as rural areas. BLE is in charge of intervention, subsidies, production standards, such as organic certification and controlling. In addition, the BLE acts as funding manager for Research and Innovation e.g. BLE is research programme manager for BMEL in the field of Food and Nutrition Security. In the project, BLE is involved in WP2 (in particular as leader of Tasks 2.1 ‘Dialogues for Action towards joint R&I agendas in FNSSA”),and to a lower extent in WP 4.
