The recently launched FNSSA International Research Consortium (IRC) Platform, aims at addressing the multiplicity and fragmentation of FNSSA actors/initiatives/strategies and programs at national and/or regional level, gathering African and European institutions in a multi-stakeholders partnership.
One of the causes of this fragmentation has been associated with the lack of knowledge and communication frameworks.
The IRC has developed knowledge management tools and a large database of projects and initiatives has been conducted to date on FNSSA which are expected to kick-start a process of providing member institutions access to a large knowledge base required for stemming these issues of fragmentation and help improve impact of initiatives and returns on investments.
In the framework of the main event COP27, this side event will discuss and identify how the IRC will position itself towards directly addressing challenges of Climate Smart Agriculture undermined by such fragmentation of efforts within the domain of food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture, how the IRC could work towards integrating regional structures, enable the linkages between communities of interests and region specific needs to offer solutions for CSA and family farming through a bi-continental approach.
